Jaxon McCanlies is currently an undergraduate at Texas Tech University, and as a Lubbock native, his creative work often involves scenes from the West Texas countryside. Starting off his college career as an Art major, Jaxon switched paths to study Creative Media in the College of Media and Communication, picking up an English minor along the way. When he’s not snapping photos, writing creative essays, or making art, he can be found making laps around Loop 289 with a Sonic drink and an acoustic guitar.

Some of Jaxon’s work can be found in the 2025 edition of the Texas Tech Harbinger Journal, wherein he has an essay, poem, and two artworks published.
